More than 700 people responded to this survey. Here are the top issues.
Main Issues
- Most people who responded read our magazine cover to cover, or at least the features, every month.
- Quality of stories: 63% choose PSM over other magazine because of the quality of our feature stories, 39% because of the columns.
- About a third of respondents say they like the magazine as is. Those who want us to improve say we can improve our value to readers with:
- more unbiased reviews of new technology, equipment & software comparisons,
- more legal and historical coverage,
- an instructional series, either print or web-based, and more educational resources and articles,
- more features on the basics of land surveying,
- human interest stories about small companies.
- People base their buying decisions on:
- articles,
- fellow surveyor's opinions,
- references from local dealers.
- (Purchases are primarily driven by need, and brand quality and experience with a brand is just as important as cost.)
