Greetings once again from Atkins!
The French chemist and microbiologist Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) once said, “Chance favors the prepared mind.”
Being prepared is especially important when it comes to flooding. Floods strike with little or no warning, causing annual losses in the U.S. of more than $2.9 billion. And one-third of U.S. flood-related disaster assistance goes to people who actually live outside of known high-risk flood areas.
When it comes to flood disasters, preparation often makes the difference between life and death, loss and preservation. But many don’t even know whether or not they’re at risk. So to give the average American citizen a better chance to be prepared, Atkins has released its freesmartphone/tablet app: FloodMap Mobile.
For all the details, check out the news release on our web site:
With FloodMap Mobile, literally anyone with a smartphone, tablet, or similar device can instantly determine the flood risk of a given address or area—for free. Using sophisticated mapping and floodplain database technologies, the app clearly shows the flood risk of any U.S. location, and can link users to local insurance agents or their local FEMA office. If desired, users can even generate a PDF-formatted risk report that can be given to a real estate agent, insurance agent, city council member, or any other interested party.
Here at Atkins, our goal is to provide you with news and information that you and your readers will find to be of interest. We welcome the opportunity to work with you, so please let us know how we can best support you.
