Aero-Metric, Inc. (AeroMetric) was recently awarded a contract with the Minnesota Geospatial Information Office (MnGeo), within the state Office of Enterprise Technology, to provide 2013-2014 Digital Orthophotography for more than 40,000 square miles in Central and Northwest Minnesota.
MnGeo is coordinating this multi-agency effort on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and a number of counties, tribal governments and the Department of Military Affairs as part of its efforts to update the National Wetland Inventory for Minnesota. Funding for this project is provided by the Minnesota Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund administered by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).
Through this contract, AeroMetric will provide leaf-off photography which is a critical component for a variety of land management applications including transportation planning, wetland mapping, urban planning, forest management, soil mapping, and utility siting. The last time that freely available leaf-off imagery was acquired for this area was in 1991.
The AeroMetric team for this contract will also utilize the services of Anderson Engineering (a Service Disabled Veteran owned Minnesota company) for survey support, Keystone Aerial Surveys for flight support, and Watershed Sciences, Inc. for flight support.
AeroMetric Vice President Greg Tilley explains, “We are pleased to be able to serve MnGeo on this important project, and we look forward to continuing AeroMetric’s strong record of reliable performance on large State and regional mapping programs.”
