COFPAES to Host "Qualifications Based Selection (QBS) Contracting for A/E Services" Workshop Tuesday, May 14

The Council on Federal Procurement of Architectural and Engineering Services (COFPAES) will host a workshop on successful implementation of the qualifications based selection (QBS) process for procurement of professional A-E and related services on Tuesday, May 14 in Washington, DC.
 
The workshop is designed for Federal, state and local government personnel responsible for contracting for professional A-E services, including surveying and mapping, as well as private practice professionals and firm personnel involved in marketing, business development, and contract administration.
 
The workshop will be instructed by Bruce Ware, Engineering and Construction Manager, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Topics covered will include the principal requirements of the Brooks Act and similar state laws, and provide details on all phases of implementing a successful contracting process, including acquisition planning, scopes of work, public notification, full and open competition, evaluation and selecting, negotiations, contract award, contract management and administration. It will also cover traditional design-bid-build versus design-build. The workshop will be held at The American Institute of Architects (AIA), 1735 New York Ave., NW, Washington, DC from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
 
Private sector individuals that belong to a COFPAES member organization can register for a discounted fee of $215. Non-member private sector representatives may participate in the workshop at a fee of $265. There is no cost for government employees. 
 
The American Institute of Architects (AIA) will offer continuing education units (CEUs) to its members who attend the workshop.
