In 2012, the Federal Geographic Data Committee requested advice regarding a National Address Database from the National Geospatial Advisory Committee. The NGAC formed a National Address Database subcommittee to study and analyze these issues. The subcommittee's findings were approved by the NGAC on Dec. 3, and the recommendations were forwarded to the FGDC.
