We recently received the letter below from a reader concerning a series Don Wilson wrote in his Rules of the Game column in the June and October issues of PSM this year. Any takers on doing some genealogical research?

    It's quite possible that Mulford was Pynchon's assistant (rodman

   ?) and that is the reason for the book dedication.

   Additionally, the reviewer /couldn't/ have met the 21 yr. old, or

   he would've remarked at the young man's ability, so he equated

   age to the contents that impressed him.

        I thought some Long Island Surveyors might

   render a "Random Act Of Genealogical Kindness" by looking for

   some city directories of that era to see if any listing for

   Mulford w/ Pynchon, etc. Maybe look at any plats to see both names?
