surveying discipline differences 

hello everyone,

basically, ive been accepted onto an apprenticeship to become a surveyor and have chosen to study residential property surveying and hopefully specialising in repair and maintenance of properties.

my question is, will i be able to actualy specilaise in repair and maintenance as a residential surveyor and are there jobs which will allow me to practice this skill? i dont want to work in a consultancy just companies which mainly deal with repairing and restoring property. do such companies exist?

and is residential surveying what i should study? or is it building surveying which is very 'broad'
