Has anyone read or seen this book in person?  I would like to buy it but I'm assuming it doesn't address early surveying any further west than the east coast.

I am mostly concerned with learning about the early surveyors in the public domain states.  If someone can suggest an alternate book, that would be helpful too.

I have a copy.  I'll review who is in it and see if you are correct.  I am not aware of a book which includes the history of more than one person, and not too many of those.  Their are a couple of publications which cover PLSS history that may have some info on a few personalities.  One is of course the "History of the Rectangular Survey System" by C. Albert White (available in PDF), and another one was compiled by Lola Cazier.
