Bill Beardslee is director of engineering for Beardslee Engineering in Sparta, New Jersey, a subsidiary of Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. He is the past president of the New Jersey Society of Professional Land Surveyors and their 2006 “Surveyor of the Year.”


Ben Bloch, PhD

Benjamin Bloch's many accomplishments include having been concertmaster and violin soloist with the New York Jr. Symphony Orchestra, traveling to the North Polar Region for the Office of Naval Research, working as staff physicist at the Grumman Aerospace Corporation, earning a Ph.D. in theoretical physics in the Quantum Theory of Scattering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, and having taught every level of college and high school math and physics.

Stephen Estopinal, PE, PLS

Jim is a native of Middleton, Nova Scotia. He has 35 years of survey experience, which includes practicing throughout North and South America and the Middle East. He is licensed in both Canada and the United States, and currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas.

Joe Knetsch, Phd

Joe Knetsch holds a PhD in history from Florida State University and, since 1987, has been the historian for the Division of State Lands, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (working in the Bureau of Survey & Mapping). He is the author of a book on Florida surveying entitled Faces on the Frontier: Florida Surveyors and Developers in the 19th Century. He has also written more than 70 articles on the history of surveying and teaches the course on the history of surveys and surveying in Florida for recertification purposes in the state of Florida.

Dave Lindell

Dave Lindell is a retired California surveyor. Dave spent more than 36 years at the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering, 18 of which he served as survey Supervisor. He is a former Los Angeles Community College district instructor of surveying, an expert examiner and technical expert for the State of California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, and has been licensed since 1972. Dave has submitted problems for the California licensing test. He now offers consulting services to local cities and does an occasional survey “to keep busy and stay out of trouble.”

Matteo Luccio, M.S., is the president of Pale Blue Dot Research, Writing, and Editing, LLC, which specializes in public policy and geospatial technologies. He has been writing about geospatial technologies since 2000 for six different technical publications and was previously a public policy research analyst for a private think tank and for state and local government agencies.


Gordon Mitchell

Gordon Mitchell graduated from Ohio State University in 1973 with a BS in Natural Resources. He is employed by the Columbus Metropolitan Park District in the area of Resource Management where he is involved in eradicating invasive vegetation and restoring prairies and wetlands. He has a strong interest in both natural and cultural history of Ohio and adjacent states.
