| The very fact that "3D Scanning" is a standalone category in the Professional Surveyor forum underscores just how quickly this technology has become important. The technology offers great upside not just for productivity, but also for "added value". Scanning is steadily permeating almost all fields of survey-grade spatial mapping. It's also rapidly evolving. So, many aspects may not be clear -- and sharing information and asking questions openly is a good way to learn. I am pleased to volunteer to help kick off the 3D Scanning forum for Professional Surveyor. I've been involved in scanning since 1998, including writing an educational column about it for Professional Surveyor magazine since 2004. So ... let's rock! ... and ask ... and post!
